Learn to Play Marimba!

Welcome
Marimbas in the Methow! We have a beautiful ensemble of wooden African marimbas ready to play including sopranos, tenors, a baritone and a bass. Marimbas are an easy instrument to learn. You don't have to read music or have previous experience. Marimba music is traditionally taught aurally, through the sounds of rhythm, tone and fun!
Classes
We have on-going eight-week long class sessions. Our Thursday class is open to new players. I will give you individual lessons for you to catch up with the songs they are playing. These extra lessons are included in your regular session tuition.
Tuition
Eight week sessions are $80. This includes eight 1.5 hour classes, free individual and group practice time in the studio, and individual lessons as needed.
To register, call, text or email Barb. Contact info below.
Classes are at our studio near downtown Winthrop.

About the Instructor
I enjoyed being in a band called Mad Frog Marimba in Seattle for fifteen years. Now in the Methow Valley, I continue to play and perform with HooDoo Marimba. The music is healing. The joyful harmonies and rhythms we make together always send me away happy and inspired.
My talented teacher was Michael Breez, who learned from the legendary Dumisani Muraire from Zimbabwe.
I am grateful that the deep cords of this spirited music have reached far away and over time from the Shona people of Zimbabwe to the Methow Valley. I hope to share this beautiful music with many people here.
